Blue Badge Scheme

A blue badge enables people with a seriously impaired ability to walk, or those registered severely visually impaired, either as a passenger or driver, to park close to their destination.

Dial-a-Ride

Dial-a-Ride is a free door-to-door service for people who are unable to use public transport. It uses mini buses which are specially designed to take wheelchairs for people with disabilities. You can’t use it to attend hospital appointments, to travel to and from work and from local authority day centres or for school transport as there are other services available for these purposes.

Ealing Community Transport

An accessible and affordable door-to-door minibus service for people who cannot access public transport due to age, disability, or poor health. Registration to use the service is completed over the phone. Passengers can use the PlusBus to access various services and facilities e.g. day centre, shopping, healthcare, and social and respite activities. Bookings can be taken up to three weeks in advance over the phone or via email. Drivers are friendly and fully trained.

Ealing Specialist Advice Service (ESAS)

ESAS provides advice and information to adult residents of the borough of Ealing (and young people aged 16+ going through transition) who have additional needs and carers/representatives of people who meet the criteria which can include:- learning disabilities or learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health issues, sensory impairments, autistic spectrum conditions, long term health conditions, have age related needs and are aged over 50.

The ESAS service can also provide advice in the following areas:- housing, benefits, equipment, aids and adaptations, employment (eg. Access to Work, adjustments to the workplace), transport and travel (eg. blue badge, Motability and freedom pass applications), health and social care and personal budgets, disability rights. ESAS can direct clients who require legal advice to solicitors and legal advice services.

The phone lines can be very busy. If they do not answer right away, please leave a message with your name and contact number and they will call you back.

The office is open to visitors at the following times:

Freedom Pass

A Freedom Pass gives people with disabilities or visual impairments, and older people free travel on buses, underground, trains, trams and DLR services. To check if you are eligible and when you can apply, please visit their website or give them a call.

Plusbus for Health

PlusBus for Health is a service offered by Ealing Community Transport (ECT) to transport people to and from GP surgeries. The service aims to reduce the number of GP house calls and no-shows at surgeries, and simultaneously improve the well-being of patients by providing the opportunity to leave their homes and increase social contact. The service is available throughout the borough of Ealing (which includes Ealing, Hanwell, Acton, Northolt, Greenford, and Southall). If you think you might be eligible to use PlusBus for Health, ask the staff at your GP’s reception to book transport for you.

Taxicard

The London Taxicard Scheme provides subsidised transport in taxis and private hire vehicles (minicabs) for people with serious mobility or visual impairments, making it very difficult or impossible to use mainstream public transport such as buses and tubes. If you are eligible, you can use your Taxicard to make journeys in licensed London taxis and private hire vehicles. It can be used when shopping, visiting friends or doctors’ appointments. While you can use your Taxicard at any day or time, it is subject to taxi availability.
